Our Success Stories

Siyabonga

Siyabonga is a vibrant, happy and loving 5-year-old boy who lives at the Mother of Peace Children’s Home. Brought to Mother of Peace by the local welfare agency after his mother’s death, the infant’s condition was so serious he was admitted to McCord Hospital on his first day at the orphanage. Fortunately he was treated immediately with anti-retroviral (ARVs) and responded well. His health improved tremendously thanks to the care he received at the Sinikithemba Clinic of McCord Hospital. This was all made possible by the generosity of his sponsor, who has indeed blessed him with hope for a brighter future.

Siyabonga is still a healthy, outgoing boy who loves to perform. At the 2010 Christmas party that was held for all the sponsored children, he captivated everyone with his fancy footwork in the dance competition and received a most coveted prize: a Bafana Bafana t-shirt! To see him dancing and smiling is the real prize— knowing that he now has hope in his life. There is nothing more precious.

“It is very difficult for me. I always cry because I don’t have anyone who helps me—financially or emotionally. I would like to say thank you very much for what you are doing for us. It helps us a lot.”
